Course Content

Module 1: Introduction to HAL Motion Principle
Gain a foundational understanding of Cyberdyne’s HAL (Hybrid Assistive Limb) technology. Learn how the HAL system detects bio-electrical signals (BES) and initiates movement, forming a feedback loop between the brain and body.

Module 2: Technology Behind the HAL Suit
Explore the internal architecture of HAL. Understand the roles of its sensors, actuators, and user interface, and how these components enable real-time support for walking, bending, and joint movement.

Module 3: HAL Systems Overview
Discover the different types of HAL suits and their purposes: HAL Lower Limb: Assists gait and posture in mobility-impaired individuals HAL Lumbar Type: Supports the lower back during lifting or sitting tasks HAL Single Joint: Focuses on elbow or knee rehabilitation support

Module 4: Applications in Healthcare and Industry
See how HAL is applied in rehabilitation (stroke, spinal cord injury, aging care) and industry (lifting support for workers). Understand real use cases and effectiveness in patient and workplace settings.

Module 5: Live Demonstration and Wearable Try-On
Participate in a hands-on demo of the HAL LL, SJ, and Lumbar systems. This module allows participants to experience suit responsiveness and usability under trainer supervision.

Module 6: Benefits and Challenges of HAL
Analyze the value of HAL in improving mobility and reducing workplace injuries. Also, examine current barriers including accessibility, training, maintenance, and ethical considerations.

Module 7: Course Evaluation and Reflection
Wrap up the session with a feedback form, a short quiz or knowledge check, and a participant-led reflection on HAL’s impact and potential future adoption in Malaysia and beyond.
