PHYSIO REHAB: BREAK FREE 2026 Concludes with Student Excellence, Innovation and Community Impact
Kuala Lumpur, 12 July 2026 – The second and final day of PHYSIO REHAB: BREAK FREE 2026 concluded successfully at MAHSA Avenue, bringing together students, healthcare professionals, rehabilitation experts, industry partners, and members of the community for a day dedicated to physiotherapy rehabilitation, innovation, education, and collaboration.
Building on the momentum of the successful launch on Day 1, the event continued to provide valuable opportunities for learning, networking, and professional development while showcasing the latest advancements in rehabilitation care and physiotherapy practice.
Physiotherapy Rehabilitation Competition Showcases Student Excellence
One of the key highlights of the day was the highly anticipated inter-university physiotherapy rehabilitation competition, which brought together aspiring healthcare professionals from leading institutions.
The participating teams included:
- MAHSA University Team A
- MAHSA University Team B
- IJN University College
- Lincoln University College
Throughout the competition, students demonstrated exceptional clinical knowledge, critical thinking, teamwork, communication skills, and innovative approaches to patient-centred rehabilitation. The competition provided participants with a platform to apply theoretical knowledge to practical rehabilitation scenarios while strengthening professional collaboration and confidence.
Advancing Physiotherapy Through Robotics and Innovation
Participants attended a specialised masterclass titled "Robotics in Rehabilitation – A Patient's Journey," which explored the transformative impact of robotic-assisted rehabilitation technologies on patient recovery and functional outcomes.
The session provided valuable insights into emerging rehabilitation technologies and highlighted how innovation continues to reshape physiotherapy practice. Through real-world case studies and clinical applications, students gained a deeper appreciation for the role of robotics, technology, and multidisciplinary care in modern rehabilitation services.
Distinguished Visit by YB Rajiv Rishyakaran
The closing ceremony was honoured by the presence of Yang Berhormat Tuan Rajiv Rishyakaran, ADUN Bukit Gasing, who toured the wellness and rehabilitation zones, engaged with exhibitors, and interacted with students, healthcare professionals, and event participants.
His visit underscored the importance of community-based healthcare initiatives and reinforced the role of physiotherapy rehabilitation, preventive healthcare, and public engagement in creating healthier communities.
Celebrating Achievement and Excellence
The event culminated in an official prize presentation ceremony that recognised the outstanding achievements of the participating teams and celebrated their commitment to excellence in physiotherapy rehabilitation. Following a highly engaging and competitive showcase of clinical knowledge, innovation, teamwork, and patient-centred problem-solving, MAHSA University Team B emerged as the overall champion, receiving a masterclass opportunity, certificates, goodie bags, and hampers. Â

IJN University College secured the position of first runner-up and was awarded a masterclass opportunity, certificates, and hampers in recognition of their impressive performance. Lincoln University College was named second runner-up and received certificates and hampers, while MAHSA University Team A received the consolation award together with certificates of participation and hampers in acknowledgment of their dedication and active involvement throughout the competition.
The awards reflected not only the participants' academic and clinical capabilities but also their professionalism, creativity, resilience, and passion for advancing physiotherapy rehabilitation practice. Through this competition, students were given the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to practical rehabilitation scenarios, strengthen their collaborative skills, and gain valuable exposure to real-world healthcare challenges. Appreciation was extended to Mr. Sasi, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, MAHSA University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selvaraj Anthony Raj, Head of Department of Physiotherapy, Lincoln University College, and Puan Nur Azlinda, Lecturer, School of Physiotherapy, IJN University College, for their invaluable support in organising and facilitating the competition.
The organising committee also expressed its sincere gratitude to the judging panel comprising Mr. Narayanan Muthukumaran, Mr. Nisha Vijayan Acharry, and Dr. Rajan Balakrishnan for their professionalism, expertise, and dedication in evaluating the competition and mentoring future healthcare professionals.
